The COMUNIDAD project is pleased to introduce Karel Charvát, Sr., an expert from our partner institution, Lesprojekt Sluzby Sro.
Karel Charvat is a Senior Advisor to the COMUNIDAD Project, bringing extensive expertise in geospatial technologies, agriculture, and digital innovation. He serves as Project Manager and Representative of Plan4all within the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) and holds key leadership roles, including membership in the GEO Programme Board and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Programme Board. As Chair of the Agriculture Domain Working Group at OGC, he actively advances the use of open geospatial standards to support sustainable agriculture and environmental resilience. Karel’s experience in integrating Earth observation data, spatial infrastructures, and digital tools is central to COMUNIDAD’s mission to foster technological capacity and smart resource management in Latin America.
On March 21–22, 2024, the COMUNIDAD consortium gathered in Madrid, Spain, for the project's official kick-off meeting. This milestone event brought together representatives from our eight project partners to set the course for the project's success, defining key action points and strategies for impactful collaboration. During the event, we captured valuable insights from each consortium member, offering their perspectives and roles in the COMUNIDAD project.
