Team Bio:

The Biogas Research Team (BRT) of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ), Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU), is dedicated to unlocking the potential of biogas plants and sustainable technologies worldwide. Our mission is multifaceted. We delve deep into understanding the real influence of small biogas plants on the environment, climate change, and society, aiming to contribute to the ongoing global discourse. Within our team, we cover a comprehensive spectrum of research activities, from conducting feasibility studies, system analyses, and technology development to engaging in laboratory-scale research and implementation. But our work doesn't stop there – we also address areas such as socio-economic implications, gender studies, and various environmental assessments. Our team specialises in a broad range of expertise, from biogas specialists and biotechnologists to food processing experts and much more! In addition to its research specialists, the BRT boasts a science communication and dissemination team comprised of a webmaster and two communication specialists.

Within the COMUNIDAD project, the BRT/CZU team will lead Work Packages 5 (WP5) & 6 (WP6). The WP5 focuses on the COMUNIDAD Platform; here, we will lead the efforts for the initial development of the COMUNIDAD platform based on requirements collected in WP2 (System architecture design and development) and utilisation of components defined by WP2. In this WP, we will also conduct internal testing of the COMUNIDAD platform and prepare its initial release for workshops and hackathons. We will also conduct the final development of the COMUNIDAD platform based on pilot testing and workshop feedback. The WP6 will manage the Dissemination and exploitation of the COMUNIDAD project. Here, we will enhance awareness among various groups through engagement and knowledge sharing. Guarantee interoperability with the Climate-ADAPT platform in the EU, Copernicus data from the related thematic area, other related projects, and the CELAC programmes and projects (for example, the Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation JIRI, the EurosociAL programme, the S&T EU-CELAC Senior Officials Meetings, the EU–LAC Dialogue, Chile-European Union STI Initiative) and other initiatives, ensuring clustering and coordination with other related EU/National/ International projects and CELAC initiatives. Introduce an exploitation strategy focusing on stakeholders, the scientific community, and decision-maker engagement.
